First let me apologize for not posting a message last week but it was one of those weeks…I know we’ve all had them unfortunately! So this week with Thanksgiving just around the corner I want to talk about Blessings.
When is the last time you really thought about all the blessings in your life? Blessings come in all shapes, sizes and situations. How can one little word signify so many different things? Blessings can include family, children, pets, your job, your health, the sun, the flowers, food, clean air, water, the ocean, our freedom and the list can go on and on. But most of our blessings we just take for granted each and every day. How often do we truly take time to thank God of the air we breathe or that the sun rose today? Yet we are all blessed with these gifts from God daily…that’s right ALL of us, no matter who you are and yet we neglect to say “thank you God”.
When you think about all the blessings each and every one of us have been given from God it puts our bad circumstances in perspective. Most of us will find that no matter the trial we are all blessed more than cursed. Not to say that you should not have pain, grief or suffering, you must have these to heal. Yet have you ever thought that they too are a blessing from God? “If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it” is a quote I love to use. How in the world can this trial or crisis that I am experiencing in my life be a blessing? Well only God knows the answer to that completely but more than likely He is using it to bring you closer to Him. He wants all of us to have a close relationship with Him, through the good times and the bad. But if we hold on to Him and remember that we are blessed not matter the circumstance we will come through any battle just fine, in his time.
James 1:12 (NIV) Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.
The song link above by Laura Story called “Blessings” says it all…take time to listen, you will be BLESSED!
Love in Christ,
